About Me

I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend.  Each, and all, of these relationships define who I am in my life.  At one time many of these relationships were a source of frustration and pain for me.

I found myself repeating patterns in relationships that were confusing and hurtful
to both me and the other person, but I didn’t know why.  This desire to understand my behavior and to create better relationships is what guided me to the field of counseling.

First as a client to figure out my own difficulties and then as a therapist to help others with these same struggles.  It was a parallel process of education and self discovery.

I received a bachelor’s degree in social services from Assumption College in Worcester
, MA and a Master’s degree in mental health counseling from the University of Mass in Boston.  I am licensed by the state of ma as a licensed mental health counselor #5523.  I have over 15 years experience in the counseling field including working in hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics and providing home-based therapy to children and families.

Following the birth of my first son in August 2002 I suffered a devastating postpartum depression. It was an experience that made me acutely aware of the unique challenges that women face. This was a turning point in my life as I could no longer pretend everything was okay and that I could get through this by myself. I learned to ask for help, set limits with the people in my life and make self-care a priority.

This life changing experience made me more committed and dedicated to helping women live healthier lives. I am passionate about my work with women and I work hard to achieve the outcomes you desire. I am energetic, determined and extremely compassionate. I will encourage and support you as you try new things and challenge you when self-defeat gets in the way.

I have been married for 10 years and enjoy being the busy mother of two young boys age 5 and 7.
